
Lee Harrington
Lee Harrington is the author of the award-winning memoir REX AND THE CITY (Random House: 2006 and Diversion Books: 2011). nHer work has appeared in the anthologies VIRGIN FICTION; LOVE STORIES: A LITERARY COMPANION TO TENNIS; DOG IS MY CO-PILOT; and HOWL: A COLLECTION OF THE BEST CONTEMPORARY DOG WIT. For years, she was a popular columnist at BARK (known as ‘the New Yorker of dog magazines’) and her work thrice earned her the title “Best Humor Writer” by the Dog Writers Association of America. She has taught creative writing at NYU, Columbia University and the Omega Institute. She’s also a freelance book editor–specializing in literary fiction, dharma, and spiritual memoir–and has served on the story selection committee at Zoetrope: All-Story since 1997. She has also served on reading committees for the Aspen Words Literary Prize and Aspen Writers Foundation
In 2013, Lee took a hiatus from writing in order to take Buddhist ngakma vows, pursue studies in Tibetan healing modalities, and make music. The latter resulted in her debut album BEYOND THE BEYOND — a collection of Buddhist chants (released under the artist name Lee Mirabai Harrington — which topped New Age music charts in 2016. Her music is now streaming everywhere.
Lee is currently working on a memoir about self-healing via alternative medicine. She also publishes weekly essays on Substack.
